Some folks were having trouble with the handout files. I went ahead and simplified everything. There’s now one PDF file for each class. Thanks for the heads up!

Stephen Seifert: David Schnaufer’s "The Way You Move the Air" (Saturday, Session 2, Level 4 - Upper-Intermediate, Mountain Dulcimer) 14MD121

Learn this beautiful, slow, and jazzy composition by dulcimer master David Schnaufer. I’ve finally transcribed this fingerpicking classic note-for-note, including some fantastic chords. We’ll play the tune in both the lower and upper octaves. I still remember playing this with David, and I’ll be sharing with you a good bit of his innovative techniques.

Stephen Seifert: Dulcimer Solos (Saturday, Session 4, Level 5 - Advanced, Mountain Dulcimer) 14MD138

Here’s my approach to performing a tune: I start with a simple, recognizable statement, then vary it by changing octaves and adding subtle enhancements. I introduce something surprising before returning to the original idea with a cool ending. In this two-hour class, I'll break down my process note-for-note for both a slow and a fast piece, providing tablature and tips on how to create your own variations.

Stephen Seifert: Old-Time Fiddle Tunes I’ve Been Loving Lately (Saturday, Session 5, Level 3 - Intermediate, Mountain Dulcimer) 14MD085

These tunes have been turning up in jams more and more over the last few years. You need some new ones, and I'm sure some of these will scratch your itch. Bring a capo. While this is mostly a repertoire class, expect a good bit of advice on how to improve your technique.
