When

Thursday, April 4, 2019

9:00 to 10:15 - Experienced Beginner - All My Favorite Shortcuts for Beginners - DAD Tuning - Here's some of my favorite easy ways. We'll cover learning tunes with paper, watching hands, and using your ears. We'll also work on strumming, fingering, and simple chords. Expect simple good old-time songs and tunes.

10:45 to Noon - Beginner/Intermediate - DAD Tuning (Bring capo or one will be provided.) - BLUEGRASS SONGS - These aren't fiddle tunes, these are classic Bluegrass songs. We'll work through three to four and we'll also work on fingering and strumming.

1:30 to 2:45 - Intermediate - Flatpicking that Sounds Good and is Easy to Do - DAD Tuning - I've been teaching flatpicking for about 20 years. It can be slow going. This new method I've been developing changes everything. If you've given up on flatpicking or don't know anything about it, take this class. I'll bring a bunch of fun tunes as well.

3:15 to 4:30 - Intermediate and Up - DAD Tuning (Bring capo or one will be provided.) - FAVORITE UPPER LEVEL ARRANGEMENTS - We'll work through one or two of my favorite arrangements for experienced players. We'll also work on techniques to make all your playing feel and sound better.

Regarding levels, I encourage students to take workshops over their head if and only if they’re adventurous and understand I’m obligated to teach to the advertised levels. Just because you can’t “keep up” doesn’t mean you’re not learning. Taking a class below your level can be a great way to review the basics as well as see how I teach newer players.
