Stephen Seifert

2nd show better than 1st. Calm nerves before 3rd, went well. Tonight and tomorrow are big ones. Important to not over-practice. #dulcimer

My House This Weekend

my-houseCome to my house this Saturday, September 4, 2010! There will be workshops throughout the morning and afternoon. We'll eat lunch at a great bakery/cafe in Bellevue called City Limits. We'll have dinner at Pizza Perfect. I'll give a mini concert just before dinner. After dinner, we'll jam for about an hour. RSVP is great but not necessary.

Schedule:

10:30 - 11:45 Learn Like Grandpa Did
Learn in a do-as-I-do style that's very similar to what a lot of folks did in the old days. You don't need to have a great ear to take this class. It's mostly learn by-eye. We will cover about three Old-Time tunes, TAB included. You will leave with these tunes in your head and under your fingers.

11:45 - 1:00 Lunch

1:00 - 2:15 Bluegrass Tunes in A - DAD - Capo 4
Having both the 6 and the 6-and-a-half frets makes this capo position extremely versatile for the sophisticated sounds of Bluegrass and the Blues. We'll cover Black Mountain Rag and Maiden's Prayer. Included will be a bunch of tips on fingering and right-hand work.

2:30 - 3:45 Personalize Your Arrangements
I'll show you specific methods for coming up with short, neat ideas. I'll then show you how to plug them right into songs you already know as endings, riffs, and cool fillers.

4:15 - 4:45 Mini Concert

5:00 - 6:15 Dinner

6:15 - 7:15 Jam

Price:

$20 for one workshop
$35 for two
$40 for all three
Mini concert free for workshop attendees.
