What really counts, with music, is that you're heart is in it. Better to play something simple from the heart than live a life of frustration attempting complication. Learn to play something rediculously simple rediculously well and completely from the heart. I believe, if you CAN'T do this, you'll spend the rest of your life trying to make music and wondering why you don't have the talent. Playing simple music well like you really mean it births a furtile garden where all sorts of amazing mysteries grow and blossom. Effective fancy playing requires this foundation. Mean each note!
